Q: Texts and iMessages won't forward with phone OFF.

I use SMS forwarding so that texts and iMessages seem to come from my personal phone, even when sent from my work phone. I found that some messages only forward if the personal phone is ON. Is this normal?

iPhone 5s, iOS 8.4, personal phone

For iMessages, it would depend on how Message is set up on each phone and what addresses each has in common. For SMS, yes that would be normal. Without being routed to the second phone by the first, there is no way an SMS could switch delivery addresses.

my overall goal is to use my work phone, but send and receive iMessages and SMS as if from my personal phone. I seem to have issues sending to SOME non-iPhones but not all. If simply keeping both phones tried on enables/improves this, that's fine with me.....
