Q: Attempting to update to 10.2.3 from 10.0.9

Apologies for a question that has already been asked.

'Choose a SAN location or folder containing Final Cut Projects and Events to update into new library.

The current selection is not valid. Choose another SAN location or folder.'

'Final Cut Pro could not find any projects or events to update.'

I feel that I have tried everything:

permissions checked

preferences deleted

reinstall FCPX

different user login

attempting to update from root, from movies, over the network, from different HDDS,

from reformatted external Hdds,

pointing to volume not folder

Installing new FCPX and OSX to both Imac and macbook pro.

- Everything is greyed out.

Also, attempting to reverting back to 10.0.9; ( ie, 10.0.9, mavericks, seperate hdd : a dual FCPX system?)

Event Manager cannot see projects ( events, but not projects)

I have years of work that I cannot access.

Any advice would be 'greatly' appreciated.

CCan you post screenshots of the drive with folder structure. How are the drives formatted?

mac os extended (journaled)

Not sure if screenshots are relevant : I have tried to access from a variety of HDD?
different structures etc.

Thanks Russ for the link.

I have been able to create some libraries (/update from 10.0.9).
But consistently regardless of what formation I set in place, my projects/events remain greyed out and regardless of which ext. hdd I 'point' to I consistently get
'Final Cut Pro could not find any projects or events to update.'

I know these questions have been asked many times but its seems 'inconceivable' that this entire FCPX infrastructure could be so fragile?
Am I missing something?
Is there some type of workaround?
Why is it specifically that 'nothing' appears to be readable?

Is that your system drive that's currently running? The Final Cut Events and Final Cut projects folders cannot be on the root level of that drive. They have to be on the root level of secondary or external drives. On the system drive those folders must be in the user's Movies folder.

P.S. The folders are always grayed out. You don't update the folders, you update the volume. The application updates what';s in the correct location on a specific volume.
