Feb 29, 2016 5:45 PM in response to cxstroby Kenichi Watanabe,Unfortunately, the mostly like cause (in your case) is the iPod's hard drive has become faulty. iTunes is not able to access the hard drive.

Feb 29, 2016 5:50 PM in response to Kenichi Watanabeby cxstro,Would you recommend sending a 2 years old device, whom was already discontinued by Apple, to any authorized support? I'm affraid it'll be super expensive + take a million years to get ready. Was thinking about trying to open him up, see if its dust that's messing him up or something like that...

Mar 6, 2016 10:44 AM in response to cxstroby Bluebell7675,I am having exactly the same issues. I have a 160gb classic which synced perfectly until recently. I have checked all the drives and they are working correctly - it's just not being recognised by iTunes. If I'm in iTunes it freezes completely and does not provide an iPod icon or anything.
I use an HP laptop so not a MAC programme. Getting very frustrated that nothing is working.
Could someone advise me in as simple terms as possible what else I can try???
I've uninstalled and reinstalled and I cannot even reset the iPod..........any ideas gratefully received

Mar 6, 2016 11:26 AM in response to Kenichi Watanabeby Bluebell7675,I have tried doing this too but iTunes freezes and the 'devices -> sync icon is greyed out so I cannot click on it.
Normally my iPod was recognised automatically and synced automatically - basically iTunes appears to be the issue not my iPod or my computer. Basically it's pointless at the moment as I cannot update my library to my iPod at all. I'm reluctant to reset my iPod at the risk of losing 1000's of song content because of an Apple software issue ..... which from what I've read and heard seems to be quite widespread.

Mar 6, 2016 2:09 PM in response to Bluebell7675by Kenichi Watanabe,A possible cause for your problem is a faulty hard drive in the iPod. If you tried all the suggestions previously posted in this topic, and it still does not work, that is the most likely cause.
