Q: How to make sure that voice memos are backed up on iCloud?

Hello everyone!

I want to trade my iPhone 5 but I also want to make sure that I've got all the data I have on my phone at the moment. However, as some of you have already discussed here, I cannot sync or back up some of my voice memos on iTunes and I couldn't solve that issue. I, accordingly, backed up my phone on iCloud to save my data however I have no access to backed up files online either.

I hesitate to restore my iphone without making sure that I've got all the voice memos backed up properly however I cannot access those files online. Should I restore my phone anyway or is there any way to confirm that all my voice memos are safely backed up?

Thanks in advance!

iPhone 5, iOS 9.2.1

With the exception of documents and photos (under certain circumstances) you can't see any of your files or data at all in iCloud. If you can make a successful backup, you just have to trust that everything is safely stored in the backup. I have restored from backups more than a few times on my iPhone, iPod Touch and my iPads - all three of them. I have used both iCloud and iTunes. I have never lost anything or found that something as missing from the backup.

However, I do not see voice memos specifically mentioned in here.

EDIT - this article infers that voice memos are included in the backup because it says that they will not transfer from an unlike iOS device to another one meaning from an iPhone to an iPad for example. Phone to phone will work.

When you restore a device from a backup of another kind of device, like using an iPad backup for an iPhone, certain types of data won't transfer:

    • Photos
    • Messages and attachments in Messages
    • Voice Memos
    • Apps that aren't compatible with the device you’re setting up (For example, apps compatible only with iPad won't be transferred to your iPhone.)
