Q: Vertical flickering lines and unresponsive screen on my IPhone 6 Plus.

My iPhone 6 Plus keeps on having weird flickering grey/white vertical lines that drag down from the top of the screen on a regular basis, it only stops when I hit it in the back really hard and sometimes my iPhone screen is unresponsive, I wouldn't be able to click on any apps that I want to and sometimes the Phone would open up another app.

Another thing is that when I pressed on the top of my iPhone screen , I see these white lines that look like there's water in it which I suspect it does. My AppleCare expired recently and I'm nervous to go into a telephone shop to get it fixed because I have no knowledge on how much it will cost.

Please help me.

Visit an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider and let them check the phone. If you are lucky, only the screen needs to be replaced, if there is more internal damage, the device might have to be replaced:

    Screen repair service pricing

Repair and replacement costs depend on your iPhone model and your AppleCare product coverage. Apple will run a diagnostic test to determine whether your iPhone has experienced additional damage. If it has, or if it needs other repairs, you may need to pay an out-of-warranty service fee. Accidental damage isn't covered under the Apple One Year Limited Warranty.

    ModelScreen repair cost
    iPhone 6 $109
    iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5 $129
    iPhone 6s Plus $149

Plus a $6.95 shipping fee, if required. Fees are in USD and exclude local tax. Pricing is for service through Apple. The final service fee we charge will be determined during testing. Pricing and terms vary for service through an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

    Out-of-warranty repair service

If your repair isn’t covered by Apple’s One Year Limited Warranty, AppleCare+, or AppleCare Protection Plan, your iPhone might be eligible for out-of-warranty service. For example, liquid damage isn’t covered by warranty but might be eligible for out-of-warranty service. Some damage isn’t eligible at all, for example if your device has been broken into multiple pieces. See Apple’s Repair Terms and Conditions for complete details.
Read Apple’s Repair Terms and Conditions

    ModelOut-of-warranty service feeBattery service*
    iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 6 Plus $329

    $79
    *available only if battery
    fails Apple’s diagnostic test

    iPhone 6s, iPhone 6 $299
    iPhone 5s, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5 $269
    iPhone 4s $199
    iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G $149

Plus a $6.95 shipping fee, if required. Fees are in USD and exclude local tax. Pricing is for service through Apple. The final service fee we charge will be determined during testing and may be less than the service fee listed above. Pricing and terms vary for service through an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

Out-of-warranty pricing varies for Apple accessories such as adapters and Apple iPhone cases. Contact your carrier, Apple, or an Apple Authorized Service Provider for more information.

It sounds like a slightly bent casing. The way to test this, is to remove the screen from the casing, while still connected to the logic board. Let the screen rest on top of the casing. If the distortion goes away, and stays away, then the case is putting pressure on the screen causing that. You would need a new frame, or it straightened.

If the user or another unauthorized party opens the phone, Apple will not service the device anymore. This will void the warranty and the Out-of-warranty replacement option will also be gone.

Is this still the case if the phone still has all it's original parts? I've heard differing views on this.

Apple "geniuses" in Australia used to tell customers with a non-original screen to go to a repairer and have a damaged original screen put on the phone to be able to take advantage of the out of warranty replacement.

    Here's my story....

I had this problem 2 weeks ago, the touchscreen stopped working sporadically at first, then became constant, sometime it wouldn't respond at all or I would touch one app and another would open. I tried restarting it when I actually could turn it off but didn't hel[p.

I took it to my ATT provider and they told me to go the Apple store in Portland, OR.

So I off to the Apple store across town, after waiting an hour they said they were aware of the problem and gave me replacement phone, no charge.

2 days later...., the new replacement phone start doing the same thing, one again I have to go to Apple where they give me ANOTHER replacement phone. the said no way it'll happen again. I figure "ya, just a fluke, third times a charm...."

WELL,....today, after less than a week with my 3rd IPhone 6 Plus it does the same thing.

I love Apple products but I am so angry, Im a self employed contractor and need my phone to be working when I need it which is all the time.

So all that to say this..... I'm on my 4th phone in two weeks and am anticipating it happening again.....

Mine is doing the same exact thing after 6 months. The issue started out of nowhere and made the phone useless. I went to the Cumberland Mall apple store and they swapped it out with a "new" one.  ONE DAY LATER the replacement phone is now doing the exact same thing.

I replaced my original I Phone 6plus due to a microphone issue, and dropped calls. The replacement phone did what you describe within an hour of activation so I called to get them to take it back but they put me through a bunch of updates and it seemed to help until today when the same thing happened again. I keep my phone locked so nothing could be done due to the unresponsive screen. They are sending me a replacement phone. I think we need to address this issue with the dept of consumer affairs to start with, if that doesn't help then go to the next step. My original 1 year warranty will expire in May. I never had a problem when I was with AT&T.

Yes, exactly. When it first happened Verizon tech support had me update the software and it helped, for 3 weeks and then yesterday, it started again, tech support couldn't get it open because I have a password and the touch screen wasn't responding. I tunes could not get in the phone unless it was unlocked. Verizon is sending out a new phone. I think Verizon sends these defective phones out as replacement phones in hopes that they will function until the warranty is over. I think they need to look into a recall. They made so much money, its just not right that all of us consumers are treated like this by an American Company.

So i got my iphone 6 plus 64gb, and it started having some grey lines at the top,The touch screen stopped responding, and the phone felt so useless... i did all kind of restarts but nothing worked. I took it to an iphone repair shop., All d man did was to open the phone and check if it was an LCD problem, and he tried another screen on the phone also, but it still didnt work...Now i just realised i still have my warranty, and i want to set up my appointment  with the Genius bar,,, 1.Would i get the phone repaired or replaced,            2.Are they really strict with the No Opening of Phone Rule.. 3. Can they consider me since the phone has no damages... . Note: No damages, it never entered water.

I had the same issue. I tried a factory reset and then an itunes backup. turns out some kind of graphics card issue with the phone. make an apple appointment and if you're still under warranty they should replace your phone. if you're out of warranty, i would inquire about what your options are.
