Hello community,
My late 2010 Macbook air the fan going crazy and temperature on the left side of the keyboard is hot!!
I have done the reset of SMC and PRAM but no differences..
Machine has been freely reinstalled recently to remove all old software from 2010 hoping for a fresh and better machine without luck..

Fixed the issue... not an easy process but here is what I have done:
1) after cleaning the fan the speed was still going very high (6497) and temperature going over 85 Celsius
2) looked again at the processes and the opendirectoryd still constantly at 30/40%... found on this link that Dropbox could cause that (I don't have Active directory so some other suggestions I saw around did not apply) : http://superuser.com/questions/350879/opendirectoryd-consumes-40-of-cpu
3) removed the bad folder in dropbox, restarted and now my MBA is like brand new... fan speed around 2000rpm, temperature around 50 Celsius... and battery life also waaaay better....
Hope this helps some else.
Fabio
