I just got this on my desktop : Please run InstallMac compatibility test and updates for the upcoming Mac OSX. I have to agree to set my search to Leperdvil. This is the first time I get this before an update or upgrade. Is this o.k. or a hacker ?

Thanks so much! Downloaded the software and it found a couple of dozen adware apps on my computer. Poof - they're gone now!

I tried using this but the problem still persists. Is Malware-Bytes also a form of malware?

    As said, "No".

thomas_r has been a long time contributor to the forums, and has helped a lot of people.  He originally wrote the software just for the forums, but he was offered a job for himself and his software.  It is still free to use, and has so far not caused any problems.

But Malware-Bytes has to constantly be updated to keep with different forms of adware, and it is possible your problem has not been seen before, or you are just seeing web pages locking up your browser, which is not something Malware-bytes can address.

If you would care to describe exactly what your seeing, it might help.  Maybe even start a new thread and post the output from EtreCheck (see "New" button at the top of the page).

If Malwarebytes Anti-Malware for Mac didn't solve this problem, choose Contact Support from the Help menu within Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. We'll help you figure out what's going on, based on the "system snapshot" Malwarebytes Anti-Malware will include in the e-mail message. (You'll be able to preview this information before sending.)

If you include my name in the e-mail, I'll see it and answer personally.

    Director of Mac Offerings, Malwarebytes
