Q: how to I stop duplicate photos?

Every time I sync devices my photos are duplicated and memory is overloaded. Photostream also seems to cause duplicates.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Did you ever find a cure for this?  It seems that with the latest iOS update, this problem has gotten worse.

I now have duplicate photos on both my iPhone and iPad and they all seem to come from the cloud.

guy63: It's 5 months later and I see there is still no response. My widow neighbor just had me help het this afternoon because her iPhone and MacAir have two different photo counts, even though she has sync'd the devices. The MacAir (with Yosemite) shows duplicate photos. I connected her iPhone (latest iOS, in fact it updated during the sync) to the MacAir and did a sync and it added more duplicates. I went to her iCloud account and looked at Photos and there are no dupes. So, what is happening? I see quite a few posts going back a few years with this problem.

On which device are you overloading the storage and seeing duplicates?  If it's your Mac then don't sync with a USB cable and use My Photo Stream.  That can cause duplicated in your iPhoto library on the Mac.
