Q: Camera RAW support updates?

The RAW compatibility updates are released irregularly, but usually a few of them each year.  Have a look at the downloads page and compare the dates of the updates:  Apple - Support - Downloads

I have  received my A6300 too.   In the meantime one can edit RAW with the Sony Image Data Converter Version 4 then save as TIFF or JPEG.

I have a similar problem, but you can set the Sony a6300 to record both RAW and JPG and when you import them into your Photos library, you will see a "J" in a box at the bottom.  You'll be able to view and edit the JPG version.

Right but you are using lots of extra space on your memory card and in your library with the duplicate versions

I completely agree.  I was just importing RAW and "waiting" for Apple to add support.  Now I am not sure what I want to do.

Shooting both does give you  the option of going back and using RAW later when it is supported

You also can shoot RAW and use the Sony software to process the RAW and save as JPEG and import the JPEGs keeping the RAWs for late use if you want

Generally SOny support is pretty quick forApple - but no one knows exactly when
