    From your own post:

1 - the resolution of 1920x1080 is a television resolution, not a computer resolution.

2 - the graphics system is communicating that it is connected as a television.

Samsung makes excellent products but you need to obtain the correct product, and that would be a computer display.

I agree with you about the resolution but the display being a TV, not a monitor is wrong.  I have a HP Envy 34c Display and my System Graphics /Display shows it as a TV.Screen Shot 2016-03-13 at 10.22.41 AM.jpg

You may not be able to, because as mentioned the display panel has such a low resolution.

something must be able to be done, because even in 1080p the fonts sharpness is crap. Ive pluged the monitor to a PC and its fine, fonts display everything so its a mac issue

IF this can't be fixed one sending the monitor back, but what's to say I won't have the same problem with a new one? Anyone got a link to Mac mini compatible monitors?

It all depends on what you want to spend and how big a screen you want.  Viewsonic, LG, Dell,HP, to name a few big name manufacturers.  There are many smaller names to try.  For a long time I had a 40" TCL HDTV which when you turned the underscan off on the Mac and turned the overscan off on the TV the picture, fonts everything was sharp at 1920X1080 resolution.   Currently I have a HP Envy 34c which is sharp and expansive in all aspects.  The good feature about it is PIP(picture-in-picture) and you can divide the screen into 4 separate windows.  It's what your wants and needs are.  If there is a Frys or

some other large computer supply nearby usually they will return the item no problem.  Amazon is good for that also.  Good Luck.  Screen shot included.
