Q: Grocery Store Use

Shaws http://www.shaws.com/ has added ApplePay in the last few months.  If I use either a Debit/Credit card and the transaction is under $50.00 things work fine.  However, when the dollar amount exceeds $50.00 they not only want me to sign a credit card receipt electronically on their keypad, they also insist on seeing my physical card.  Has anyone else seen this kind of behavior from other retailers?  Defeats the purpose of ApplePay in my opinion.  Can retailers institute such insane policies without Apple's approval to call themselves 'ApplePay' ready?

If I were you I’d would tell the merchant to go pound salt and take your business elsewhere. There is no reason for them to be doing this. They clearly don’t understand how NFC payments work and don’t trust you the customer.
