Q: URLs not working in Safari or Mail after iOS 9.2.1

After updating my iPad Air 2 iOS 9.2.1, I experienced Safari crashing when trying to open a new tab. I solved this problem by disabling Search Engine Suggestions and Safari Suggestions in Settings, as recommended. However now, if I've done a search, I cannot open any of the links in that search. If I type a specific URL in the Search Box, then I can open the page, but am unable to sign in, use any links from that page, etc. Also, I find that I am unable to open any URL links that I receive in Mail and tapping on a link then locks up Mail... I have done a full sync to my iMac, which can sometimes rectify a problem, but it hasn't helped in this instance.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Also exactly the same problem here since early February. No links work on any of mu iOS devices with programs freezing and crashing: iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPhone 6 Plus. I have been in 2 lengthy sessions with Apple customer support and they cannot provide a solution. They only thing that helped was a complete new installation, but that only helped for a few days until exactly the same problems appeared.

    Apple please take this seriously!!

I had to install Google Chrome to click and hold on the reply button to this post and then select 'open in new tab' to be able to write this...

Apple, if these serious complaints are being monitored, please note there have been over 2,420 views on this malfunction. So far, no one has found any solution that reliably works nor has the deficiency been advised as being corrected in the iOS 9.3 beta releases to date. URL links work on my iPad Air 2  while they don't work on my wife's iPad Air 2 bought the same time, and upgraded at about the same time. Anyone reading can imagine how well that goes over in my house! I have decided to wait until iOS 9.3 is released to see if this annoying issue is corrected, but I definitely plan to write complaint letters, many, if it's not corrected. This issue, and the lack of any acknowledge or information about correction, reflects poorly on Apple!

So far I have no hope that this will be solved soon as I am a beta user with iOS 9.3 public beta 6 on one of my devices with exactly the same problem.

Strongly agree not the level of service they are expected to provide.

For the first time really disappointed by Apple

I also strongly agree and am very dissapointed with Apples non response to such a grave matter.

Unfortunately this incredible malfunctioning iOS 9.2.1 along with an iPhone 6S camera that only creates watercolor images, make it disappointed a very old Apple user like me.

Seconded.  iPhone 6S and iPad Air 2 here both with this issue.  Both started happening recently and definitely after the 9.2.1 update.

Correct. Even with the latest 9.3 update of yesterday the problem persists.

I'm experiencing the same thing on my iPhone 6 with iOS 9.2.1 and no internet hyperlink work in text messages, safari, chrome.  It's horrible.  It makes my phone nearly useless for internet purposes.

I am experiencing this problem on my iPhone 6s. I was previously running 9.2.1 and have since upgraded (including a wipe and restore from iCloud backup) to iOS 9.3b7 with the issue persisting.

    My observations:

Messages app -> Any URLs sent to me do not open. The app eventually gets stuck and hangs.
Safari -> Any search results from Google have URLs that do not work. Strangely, Bing and DuckDuckGo are unaffected.

WhatsApp - > Same as Messages app.

Mail -> Same as Messages app.

I've tried disabling/enabling any number of different preferences for Safari, wiped local caches, disable iCloud sync, etc. Basically every possible permutation to the issue, with no change in effect.

For comparison, I have an iPad running the beta, and an iPhone 6s Plus running 9.2.1 that do not exhibit this issue.

This needs to be addressed, as it is a silly, show stopping bug.

Same problem: links returned from Google don't open, attachments and links in mail don't open, both freeze after enough link taps.

Here is what fixed it for me: in Settings > Safari > Advanced > JavaScript OFF.

I wasn't sure anything would work these days without JavaScript, and maybe a lot won't, but google links now open, same for mail.

that hasn't worked for me too, if I disable javascript from safari, I can open links from google results in safari app, but, when I try to open links from mail it freezes as usual
