Q: USB port on cinema display not working for keyboard

It works with other devices. But not with my (Apple) keyboard. Is there a way to "wake it up?" It was working as recently as today. Woke from sleep and... nada.

Thanks in advance.

It just woke up. Tried another keyboard in the port. That worked. Then tried the first one. It now works. Gremlins.

    This post becomes "never mind."

Some users found to use the keyboard extension cable that some include (as Apple has)

can help make a better connection for the USB keyboard, since sometimes the plug on

the original keyboard cable is picky. Also, in case of troubleshooting issues, you may need

to consider attaching the keyboard direct to the USB port on the computer for best results.

My keyboard extension cables are used as a means to plug in Card Readers in front of

a computer when the ports are often in the back. One is often used for USB flash drives

and with camera cards removed from the camera. And keep a spare one of these, too.

Usually I have at least one spare wired USB keyboard (plus new extra) on hand, and at

least one USB mouse. Since these newer OS X versions have a demand to work best

with roller-ball or touch-surface mouse, I have more than a few for various vintage Macs.

To include the basic white one-button mouse, where contextual menus are your friend.

Glad to hear you were able to discuss the matter with your Mac & have things work out.

    Good luck & happy computing!

Thanks, K. It is always good to find that trying three things this way and that can remind the hardware what it is intended to do. This one was pretty harmless.
