Messages can use AIM, Jabber (which includes Google talk) and Yahoo as well as the iMessages and Bonjour accounts.
If the iMessages account is marking ALL sent Messages with "Not Delivered" with an exclamation mark then it is not logged in properly.
There are several things you can try to check it is not the Mac.
NVRAM Reset How to Reset NVRAM on your Mac - Apple Support
Check the Serial Number is present on the Logic/Mother board and can read by the system. In Yosemite use the Apple Icon Menu top left and "About this Mac". In the Overview tab the Serial Number is at the bottom.
If it is missing then you need to visit an Apple Store and have it put back.
It sometimes gets missed in Replacement of the board.
If you are Receiving some iMessages it is best to check which ID they are coming to.
For instance, sometime on the iPhone > Settings > Messages > Send and Receive show the number as Unticked (even though your can't change it)
IF at the same time the Mac is set to Send from the iPhone Number it will not be able to as the iPhone Number may have lost it's registration.
If this is the case Sign Out of the Apple ID on the iPhone.
Turn the Messages App off for a few minutes.
Turn it back on again and wait fro it to Verify.
Text send an iMessage to the Apple ID (Mac) once it has done so.
Add Back the Apple ID (Accept the pop up again on the Mac)
Reset text Forwarding if you were using it.
