Q: quick time screen recording lagging

I want to record video tutorials on photoshop, and some recommend to use quick time to record. But every time I record with the quick time screen recording, my computer will start to lag, and will remain that way for a while. Also some programs would crash on me. Please help me reduce or solve this problem. Or please recommend other screen recording devices that will not lag when I use photoshop.

iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.5)

    Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities! I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues screen recording Photoshop with QuickTime. Given that Photoshop can be fairly resource intensive (in addition to the overhead from screen recording), you may want to make sure that no particular system resource is being maxed out during your recordings (Memory pressure, CPU, disk read/write, etc), and/or that Photoshop and QuickTime are the only two primary things running.
