Q: What is causing frequent kernel panics?

Hi,

I'm getting frequent kernel panics on my macbook pro, 13" mid 2009 on 10.10.5 (14F27). I'm not sure what is causing it or how to prevent them happening, I'm usually using Atom.app, chrome and Terminal, but I'm not sure which has the focus when it happens or if it is even related, it might have happened a few times when using IntelliJ too but I cannot be sure.
