Q: Booting in to local recovery hangs on progress bar - El Capitan 10.11.2
Since updating to el capitan 10.11.2 I've been unable to access my windows partition via bootcamp. After struggling for a while, I decided to start from scratch and rebuild the partition, but windows refuses to install due to the GPT partition style.
It seems the way to address this is using "gdisk" - which fails for me due to SIP on newer OSX versions.
So, to disable SIP I need to boot in to recovery and run "csrutil disable", which is where Ive hit a new hurdle. When I hold Command-R, I boot directly in to "internet recovery", which apparently is no good for my purposes (csrutil command doesnt work).
When I hold Option and select my recovery partition, my mac never makes it past the apple-logo-with-progress-bar screen.
So I made a recovery USB disk using osx recovery disk util, but this has the same problem! - never gets passed the loading screen. I've left each method (local recovery partition and USB disk) for multiple hours (probably about 3ish on the longer attempts) and it never comes through.
Ive tried clearing nvram, but not sure what else I can do! Appreciate any help! Im on a Macbook pro retina, late 2013.
