    Hello there, anneleedore.

It seems your iPhone 6 plus is stuck updating and in addition you are unable to pair your Apple Watch to it. First off, let's tackle the update. The following Knowledge Base article outlines the two different ways you can update your iPhone:

Update the iOS software on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

    Before you begin

Make a backup of your device using iCloud or iTunes.

    Update your device wirelessly

If a message says that an update is available, tap Install Now. You can also follow these steps:

    1. Plug your device in to power and connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi.
    2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
    3. Tap Download and Install. If a message asks to temporarily remove apps because iOS needs more space for the update, tap Continue or Cancel. Later, iOS will reinstall apps that it removed. If you tap Cancel, learn what to do next.
    4. To update now, tap Install. Or you can tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just plug your iOS device in to power before you go to sleep. Overnight, your device will update automatically.
    5. If asked, enter your passcode.

If you need more space to update wirelessly

If you need more space for a wireless update, you can update using iTunes or delete content manually from your device. Whether you use iTunes or update wirelessly, you'll have the same amount of free space on your device after you update.

Some iOS software updates aren't available wirelessly. VPN or proxy connections might prevent your device from contacting the iOS update servers.

    Update your device using iTunes

If you can’t update wirelessly, you can update with iTunes. If your computer uses the Personal Hotspot on the iOS device that you’re updating, connect your computer to a different network.

    1. Install the latest version of iTunes on your computer.
    2. Connect your device to your computer.
    3. Open iTunes and select your device.
    4. Click Summary, then click Check for Update.
    5. Click Download and Update.

If you see error messages in iTunes or need more space to update

Get help when you see error messages while updating your device with iTunes. Or if you need more space for an update, you can delete content from your device manually.

If your issue arrises due to an OTA (over-the-air) update, then the following article provides some additional help:

Get help with over-the-air iOS updates

    If the update doesn't complete

If you're installing the update, the progress bar might appear to move slowly. The time an update takes depends on the size of the update and the number of files on your device.

When you're updating over the air, keep your device connected to a power source. If your device runs out of power, connect it to a power source and turn on the device to let the update or restore complete.

If the update never completes and the progress bar hasn't moved for an extended time, try restarting your device. Learn what to do if your device appears frozen or won't start.

Once you're able to get your iPhone updated, the following article has the steps to sync your Apple Watch and some additional help for if you don't see the pairing animation:

    Set up your Apple Watch

Open the Watch app on your iPhone.

Then tap a language on your Apple Watch. To scroll through the list, rotate the Digital Crown or swipe the screen.

    Pair your devices.

Tap Start Pairing on your Apple Watch and again on your iPhone. A pairing animation should appear on your Apple Watch.

Hold your iPhone over the pairing animation on your Apple Watch.

Center the watch face in the onscreen viewfinder on your iPhone until a message says Your Apple Watch is Paired.

If you don’t see the pairing animation or if your iPhone doesn't read it, you can pair your devices manually.

Set up and pick a wrist.

On your iPhone, tap Set Up as New Apple Watch. If you’ve set up before, you can tap Restore from Backup and follow the onscreen steps. Then tap Left or Right on your iPhone to pick a wrist. Read the Terms and Conditions and tap Agree to continue.

    Enter your Apple ID password.

You need to sign in with your Apple ID password to enjoy features like Digital Touch, Apple Pay, and Handoff. If Find My iPhone isn't set up on your iPhone, you'll also be asked to turn on Activation Lock.

    Review your settings.

Your iPhone settings for Diagnostics and Usage, Location Services, and Siri will transfer to your Apple Watch, and the other way around. So if you change the settings of these services, those changes will apply to both of your devices.

    Make a Passcode.

On your iPhone, choose whether to make a passcode for your Apple Watch. You need a Passcode for features like Apple Pay. You might be asked to add a card, so you can start using Apple Pay.

If you tap Create a Passcode or Add a Long Passcode on your iPhone, you can make a personal code using your Apple Watch. Then decide whether your Apple Watch will unlock with your iPhone.

    Sync your apps.

Tap Install All to sync iPhone apps that work with your Apple Watch. Only apps that are compatible with your Apple Watch will sync. Tap Choose Later to sync only basic information like Mail, Contacts, and Messages.

Your iPhone and Apple Watch will begin to sync. The length of this process varies depending on the amount of data you're syncing. Keep your devices close together until you hear a chime and feel a gentle tap from your Apple Watch.

If you don't see the pairing animation

If you don't see the pairing animation or your iPhone can't read it, you can manually pair using the steps below:

    1. Put on your Apple Watch, choose a language, and tap Start Pairing on both devices.
    2. Tap Pair Apple Watch Manually on your iPhone.
    3. Tap Info icon on your Apple Watch. Your device's name should appear on the watch face.
    4. On your iPhone, tap the 5-digit name that matches the one you see on your Apple Watch.
    5. A six-digit code will appear on your Apple Watch. Enter that code on your iPhone to pair the two devices. Then continue the steps to set up.

If your watch is already paired, but isn't connected to your iPhone, use these steps instead:
