Q: Can't move iTunes library & Media

I followed the instructions to move the iTunes library. It was getting too large for my internal hard drive. I followed the directions to move to an external hard drive. The only thing that copies is an empty "Automatically Add to iTunes" folder.

Locate and organize your iTunes media files - Apple Support

Find and change the iTunes Media folder location"

Thanks for any advice.

Moving a library: Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its sub-folders and files) intact to the other drive, hold down the option/alt key (shift on Windows) while starting iTunes, and when requested to select a library select the iTunes Library.itl file in the copied folder.

Thanks, now another question. The iTunes advanced preferences says the library is on the external drive, and all the media is there. But "show in finder" on a song reveals that the file is actually being listed as the old iTunes folder on the hard drive. I have a back up of the entree iTunes library on a second hard drive. and the new iTunes folder I copied onto the drive I want to use as the iTunes library and media storage. Can I now delete the iTunes folder on the internal hard drive. Sorry to be a pest.
