Q: Any Method to Make Old iMac as Second Monitor?

Hi. For example you have two OS X machines running El Capitan, one is the i7 27" old Intel iMac and one is the Mac Pro with the 27" Apple monitor for it or the new 27" iMac. What hardware and/or software is needed to make a multiple monitor setup with the newer iMac or the Mac Pro?

Other question. If there is a way to do that, what hardware and/or software would be needed make two Macs help each other as if two or more Macs have become one, similar to PC's SLI or Crossfire and parallel computing? Similar to a scalable server? Maybe even having two internet accounts and combining their speed using two Macs (or maybe more than two)?

Recent iMacs except for the 5K ones can be uses as a screen using target Display mode
Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support

Otherwise the iMac will have to be fully operational. and connect to the same network and use an app Like Apple's screen sharing or

if you have exactly the right iMac:

Use your iMac as a display with Target Display Mode - Apple Support

For "ordinary" tasks (NOT Video editing) you can Share the Mac Pro screen from another computer using Screen Sharing:

System Preferences > Sharing > Screen Sharing

it is widely compatible over many versions of Mac OS X. Wi-Fi is doable, but Ethernet preferred.
