Mar 21, 2016 4:40 AM in response to studiogoldby Russ H,You will need the Final Cut Studio installation disks to do a proper installation.
However, since FCP 7 has not been supported by Apple for nearly 5 years every OS release increases the odds that something will not function properly, If I were you, I would maintain a separate partition with whatever OS X version you currently have and continue to run it for FCP 7. Upgrade to OS X 10.11 using a separate partition.
Just to let you know, this is the Final Cut Pro X forum, which application is completely different than FCP 7. Suggest that you post any further questions in the Final Cut Studio forum.
Good luck.
Russ
