Q: OS 10.11.4 broke all of my applications...

I just updated my Macbook Pro and my Mac Pro to OS 10.11.4.  On my laptop, everything seems to be fine.  On my Mac Pro, none of my applications

will open.  I get an error that says "You can't open the application "Disk Utility" because it may be damaged or incomplete."  I get the same message on all the applications I try to open.  I am beyond p i s s e d.  There is absolutely NO excuse for this kind of thing to be happening in this day and age.  If anyone know WHY this d a m n update did this and what I can do to correct it, your input is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

Mac Pro, OS X El Capitan (10.11.4), 24 GB, Radeon 4870, Blu-ray

Similar problem here. I updated to 10.11.4 and Safari is completely hosed, uses 99% of cpu, so I closed it and went to Chrome. Something is badly wrong with this update.

I would have to download it on a different machine, then hope that it would even install on the other one.  I just decided to restore from a backup.  I don't have time for all of these stupid bugs that keep popping up in Apple's software.

Uninstall CleanMyMac2. It is a worthless piece of junk on a Mac.

I uninstalled CleanMyMac2 and restarted but still have the same problem. The system is unusable if Safari is running, Activity Monitor shows "Safari web content (not responding)" in red and using 90%+ of cpu. If I force quit Safari and use Chrome then all is normal. The Safari problem started with the update to OS 10.11.4.

Unless there is something else obvious to try I need to restore from backup.

Try uninstalling all of the extensions you have for Safari.

If that helps them you will need to reinstall them one at a time until you find the guilty party.

Three extensions were enabled but I uninstalled all seven and restarted Safari. This had no effect on the problem on the system is still unusable with Safari running. Thanks for the help Allan, but I need to restore from backup and wait to see if a revision of 10.11.4 comes out.

UPDATE: okay I found my problem. Safari restores the content in the tabs when it restarts, and I had a google map left open in a tab, something I never do.  The google map was trying to refresh after a restart and somehow taking all the cpu time. With that tab closed everything is working normally again.

Similar problem here. I updated to 10.11.4 and Safari is completely hosed, uses 99% of cpu, so I closed it and went to Chrome. Something is badly wrong with this update.

The vast majority of people have had no issues with the upgrade breaking things.

Please create a new post detailing your particular Safari issue and I or someone else will help you to diagnose it there.

Try booting into RecoveryHD and do a disk repair on the boot volume from there.

Also, try booting into safe mode and see what happens.  This will disable everything

    but Apple extensions and drivers.

I would have to download it on a different machine, then hope that it would even install on the other one.  I just decided to restore from a backup.  I don't have time for all of these stupid bugs that keep popping up in Apple's software.

    Or Apple users.
