Mar 22, 2016 1:18 AM in response to Jens24by Kenichi Watanabe,That message means there is a data connection. Does the iPod appear on the Desktop, or in the sidebar of a Finder window? If you run Disk Utility, does it appear in the Disk Utility sidebar?
If you have not recently, do a restart on the Mac, then run iTunes and connect the iPod.
If the iPod still does not appear in iTunes, disconnect all USB devices from Mac. You can leave standard USB keyboard/mouse connected, if used. Put the iPod into Disk Mode

Run iTunes and connect iPod to a direct USB port on the Mac. If iTunes picks it up, it may prompt you to do a Restore with a message about "recovery." If you're OK with erasing the iPod, let iTunes do the Restore.
