Q: Music from 5s didn't transfer to 6s, and is not showing up in iTunes Library!

Please help!  I recently upgraded my iphone 5s, to the iphone 6s.  When I purchased, I had them transfer everything from my iphone 5s, over to my 6s.  However, when I arrived home, I realized that something was off, and my photos were all mixed up, and some of my apps did not come through. So, I made a back up of my 5s - so I could start over.  I erased the new phone, backed up my 5s, and then restored the new 6s from the back up.  I thought everything was great!  My pictures were back in order by date....the only thing I THOUGHT I 'd lost was the MapMyRun + app...the only one I had ever purchased.

Well - I recently was thinking "why do I keep hearing the same songs over & over?"  I then realized, after comparing music on one vs the other...that I had 214 songs on my 5s.  I only have 130 on my new 6s.... a few of which I have purchased since acquiring the 6s.

I CANNOT get the music to merge/copy/transfer on to my new phone.  It is NOT showing up in itunes either...it's like I never bought it there?  I have never purchased the music anywhere else....so this isn't making sense.  I tried calling Apple Support - who connected me with iTunes Support.  Unfortuntely - the rep was asking me to create another back up of my 5s....when it decided to "get stuck" in step 4.  I cannot get past step 4.  I've tried some tricks I've read through on these discussion boards...no luck.  I cannot manually manage music - because it asks me if I want to erase, and sync with the itunes library.  No...because the itunes library has lost over half of my music!  The nice rep could not wait on the phone with me after about an hour...because my phone wouldn't complete the back up.  I don't blame her....

Any advice?  Will physically taking my phones into Apple help?  I just want to move themusic from my old phone to my new.  I have never had this issue - and suspect it has something to do with the old phone not being able to complete the back up to my PC.

iPhone 6s, iOS 9.2.1

You don't move your music from your old phone to the new one, you sync it to the same iTunes library you used to sync it with the first computer.  Without special software for which you will have to pay money you can only transfer iTunes Store purchases from the old phone to the iTunes library where you then use iTunes to sync to the new phone.

If you use Apple Music these observations may change slightly.

Thank you.  From everything I've read - and what I was told over the phone (where they could see my computer) - this won't work.  I'm being told that the SYNC is one way - iTunes Library to Iphone...which would erase what's currently on my phone, and replace with what is in Itunes.  Even the Apple Rep was stumped.  If I have no other choice, but to use a paid software - I have no problem resorting to this....any recommendations?  My computer is PC.

    Thanks!

SYNC is two way or it isn't sync.

This is crazy....the rep acted like this was not possible.  I'm going to give this a shot...because I've wasted too much time already.

    Thanks

What was not possible, you have to start supplying detail, your post is full of assumptions,

Start again and tell us what is going on,

If you subscribe to Apple Music or Match syncing will be very different. Your primary source for media is iCloud and your syncing is really to iCloud.  If you have this turned on you cannot sync with a computer.

If you do not subscribe to the above services then you can sync with a computer. However, only iTunes Store purchases can be transferred to a computer.  Other media has to already be on the computer which acts as the primary repository for media in this situation.

Now I do not know why media is not transferring to the iPhone (I have never synced anything except for an iPod for my niece once back in 2008 I think).  Sometimes people make the mistake of setting up a new AppleID when they buy a new device and that essentially cuts them off from previous purchases.  Alternatively you may have purchased items from the iTunes Store and downloaded them to your other phone but never downloaded them to your computer. If you are now syncing your new phone to your computer the items are not there to sync.  Redownload or transfer your iTunes Store purchases from an iPhone, iPad or iPod to a computer - https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201267
