Q: Beats studio wireless keeps disconnecting

I got the beats studio wireless 2.0 for Christmas and so once I listen to music on my iPhone 6 with Bluetooth on and when I want to change a song, it sudden diconnects every time. It also just doesn't happen on the music app, even when I watch videos like on YouTub. So I want to know if there is anyway to fix this issue so I don't keep turning the headphones on and off. Plus I have run iOS 9.2

iPhone 6, iOS 9.2

    Hi All,

glad lad to here the fix is working for most of you.

Hi Chris435363 - are you using an original beats USB cable to plug them up to the computer?

So I got all excited to upgrade to iOS 9.3 thinking it would fix the problem....no luck.

I turn the headset on, the bluetooth light blinks, the headset pops up in my iPhone and when I click the button to pair them the flashing light on the headset turns off, never to return unless I turn them off and on again.

The same thing happens even after a reset of the headset or restart of the phone. They were working for a couple of weeks and then this.

Think I'll have to take them back, this will be my 3rd pair...........................

    Hi Kerfy19

ah the problem you have isn't the same as in this thread, the 9.3 fix is for issues with disconnecting after the headsets have been paired already and disconnect whilst listening to music by skipping tracks or changing the volume.

yours is isnt pairing successully any longer is it? But if I recall I had a similar issue in the past and I fixed it by going into settings and then Bluetooth and see if your beats is listed here (do not turn on your beats at this point) if they are there select the i icon beside the device and then select forget this device, if there is any devices you do not use any longer or you don't recognize I'd recommend you forget those too as one of those could be a rouge connection for your failing headset. If it's not there just jump to the next step which is to hold the power button on your beats headset for 10 seconds and the all the LED's on the power gauge will blink white followed by 1 blinking red one after they stop blinking they will have been reset. Now try pairing your beats again by holding in the bluetooth button for a few seconds on the beats until the single LED begins to flash then go in to settings and Bluetooth on your device and try pairing them again, this time hopefully it should work.

Hope this helps sort out your issue.

    Cheers,

    Jason

I have only had this problem when listening to Apple Music on my Beats Bluetooth headphones (I have two different sets, and issue is on both) -- this is not an issue for me when listening to Spotify or Pandora on the same Beats headphones.

Also tried updating firmware for my PowerBeats Wireless and my Beats Studio Wireless -- both times I am told 1.1.1xx is the latest version.

Wondering if anyone else does NOT have this problem when skipping tracks in Spotify, Pandora, etc. Apple might be more incentivized to fix this issue if it is a problem with Apple Music, a recurring revenue stream in an area with some intense competition.

I am so glad that there is a fix for this! I got my studio wireless as a gift, but had troubles with it connecting to my iphone5 iOS 9.0-9.3 good thing I searched this in google and stumbled on a few links including this thread.

Apparently, mine is manufactured after 2014 so maybe that's why I was able to update the beats firmware. It's all good now. I can play/pause, skip and rewind tracks without it disconnecting.

Before finding this fix, I just use my old ipodtouch 4thgen iOS6 to listen to music wirelessly :/

Hope everything will go well for the others.

Kudos also to Jason for keeping this thread updated.

And to Apple, come on guys! sheesh

    Hi Crimin8l,

yes the bug was fixed in the newer iOS firmware  for the phones and tablets released a little while after, and the fix appears to have been in each firmware release after too.

what version of IOS are you running on your phone/tablet?

    cheers,

    Jason

    Hi all,

I have been having the same problem - on the music app with loss of Bluetooth connectivity whilst trying to forward/turn up volume etc. Frustrating.! Contacted Apple and same old crap. So I decided to try a different music app which plays music all ready stored in my music Library - Result.! I have downloaded Beat and TuneShell. Both are a alternative to the music app and have been connected to the beats no problem.

Still leaves the connectivity problem with the stock music app on the iphone - Think its f'd up that Apple know this problem exists and has offered no real help for a fix.

    Hi Jasongalliuk

I am running version 9.3.3 Iphone 6 - still having an issue, only seems to be happening with the stock music app.

I have posted another post this morning before seeing your message. Downloaded 2 other music apps to play my music stored on my iphone and my Beats work fine. Forward/Volume Up N Down. What firmware are you on and device.?

    Thanks for reply
