Q: Title text with solid background

I want to create a title that will add a solid highlighted background under the text as I type.

I also want that small space to be left between the lines of text.

I have opened a basic title into Motion but can't think of what attributes to add that will create this effect.

Here is an example of what I am trying to create. My client created this in InDesign and then brings it into his video editing software as a PNG.

I want to cut out this step and be able to do it all directly within FCPX with a title I create in Motion.

Pages does something similar but doesn't leave the space between the lines even when I increase the baseline.

For example here's that title text selected. If I could only figure out a way to make that highlight permanent and of a colour of my choice selected.jpg

    Thanks so much Karsten!

That works really well for single line titles. But when I try to make a title with multiple lines it doesn't quite work.

There are two things that don't work for me. Perhaps I am missing a step when making the title in Motion.

First when I make  a title with multiple lines the border goes around the entire block of text and not simply behind each line:

The other problem is that when I try to move the title in FCPX the text moves but that filter border clone layer I added in Motion stays put.

How do I link the two layers so they stick together when I want to re-position them?

yep, that asks for some adjustments:

    1) in M5 Title template, raise the input rectangle - otherwise, longer paragraphs get chopped off on the bottom

    2) set the Border filter of the Clone manually to e.g. 1000 (slider only offers a max of 100)

    3) I then applied a parameter behavior, Link, to link the clones position to the one of the original title...

    tadaahh:

do you need a copy of that 'project', …?

(hmmm, I could upload it as a plug-in, with some published, nice parameters, perhaps....)
