Mar 22, 2016 9:46 AM in response to K9palsby ChitlinsCC,What brand/model/year of keyboard? Have you checked battery in it? What about removing the keyboard from the mix to prove it is at fault?
Since this began several months ago, determining the event that immediately preceded the onset of the misbehavior will be difficult - but "cause and effect" is practically 100% certain.
Standard troubleshooting efforts? restart, etc.

Mar 22, 2016 2:11 PM in response to K9palsby babowa,How much room is there between the screen and the actual keys on the keyboard when you have it closed? Unless the keys are recessed, then my guess would be that the keys are pressing lightly on the screen and, whenever you put any kind of pressure on it with your fingers/hands from the outside by picking it up, etc., then that area (in this case the app icons) would react by opening. I just spent quite some time researching such keyboards as I'm in the market for one and that is what I noticed. There are some keyboards where the keys are recessed and others where they are not - those will obviously be pressing against the screen when closed.
