Q: Numbers files from iPad taking ages to update

Numbers files I have edited on iPad are still displaying "updating" on the MacBook Pro. They have been updating for over 7 hours so far. If I log into iCloud drive on the web, the files are correctly synched there.

I have El Capitan. All devices are signed in to the same ID. I have tried restarting iPad and Mac. I have tried creating a test file on iPad which has appeared on the Mac. The files still updating are fairly small spreadsheets with very little data in them. Any ideas ?

    Hello jacki21uk,

I understand that your Numbers documents don't appear to be successfully updating on your MacBook Pro after editing them on your iPad. The steps outlined below provide information that can help get your Mac to successfully update documents once they've been edited on your iPad.

If you tried these steps and your files still don’t upload to iCloud:

    1. Stay signed in to iCloud.
    2. Save your updated files to a different folder on your Mac or PC.
    3. Contact Apple Support.

    All my best.

Hi Allen, yes I confirm I had already tried all the suggestions you make, but thanks for your suggestions.

It seems my only recourse is to ring Apple, but that will have to wait until I have a window of time to hang around on the phone for hours. We are now another 28 hours on and documents are still not synchronised.

In the meantime, I'm working with documents on Mac only and saved locally. I transferred the most recent version by air drop. This obviously defeats the object of being able to update documents from anywhere and from any device.

I'm sure I can't be the only person experiencing this issue.
