Mar 22, 2016 5:44 PM in response to AVG 07by Lawrence Finch,If you plug it in overnight you won't lose any battery. In addition, if you enable automatic backups your phone will back up to iTunes or iCloud (your choice) when it is in standby, connected to power, and connected to WiFi. Mar 22, 2016 5:58 PM in response to AVG 07by Lawrence Finch,You SHOULD plug it in overnight. It is best for the phone, for the battery, for preserving your data through backup, and it guarantees that your phone will have a full charge in the morning. And there is no reason NOT to plug it in overnight; it is impossible to overcharge an iPhone, because the built in charger stops charging when the battery reaches 100%.
There is no "rule" about how much energy the phone will use while on standby. It depends on which of the over 1 million apps from the app store are installed, what the installed apps do in the background, how many email messages, texts and iMessages you receive, how many notifications your apps receive, and dozens of other factors. If you have no apps installed, no email accounts set up, all notifications turned off and you never use the phone for anything the standby drain will be around 10% per day.
