Mar 23, 2016 6:51 AM in response to bretfromflandersby sterling r,Hi there Bret,
It sounds like you are unable to update your iPad to iOS 9.3 because of some message about server activation. I would first check out this article to see if it has relevant information for you since I'm not exactly certain what the error you are getting is.
Get help with over-the-air iOS updates
If that doesn't then I would use this article to help you resolve update issues:
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes
If you are getting a specific error number in iTunes this article will have more specific troubleshooting for you to use:
Get help with iOS update and restore errors
If none of that helps, can you elaborate what the error is word for word? Thank you for using Apple Support Communities, let us know how that goes!

Mar 23, 2016 7:09 AM in response to sterling rby Alice Walsh,I have the same issue. I updated my Mother's iPad 2 WIFI + Cellular. I get COULD NOT ACTIVATE IPAD. Your iPad could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPad to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes. If this problem persists, contact Apple Support.
I connected it to my Macbook Pro and I go to iTunes. I then get this message.
iTunes was unable to verify your device.
Please disconnect and reconnect your device.
If the error persists, please visit your nearest Apple Store for assistance.

I tried to go to support but I cannot get to my serial number so I cannot contact Apple Support to make an appointment. Can anyone help with this? Thank you.
OH. By the way. She updated her iPad at least 4 hours ago and this is how long she has been having this problem. Any additional help would be great.
I have restarted my Mom's iPad and get Hello. I swipe and the the above messages. I am lost at this point. Any help would be great.

Mar 23, 2016 12:51 PM in response to phillipfromcovingtonby macdevil26,I have the same exact error with my iPad2. So far no solution found.... Hooking up to my macbook/iTunes as the message suggests doesn't help.

Mar 23, 2016 12:55 PM in response to Alice Walshby Skydiver119,Your serial number may be on the back of your device. It's printed on the back of my iPod, but in such tiny and faint print I needed a jeweler's loop to see it.
Have you tried to sign into icloud.com with your apple ID and remove the device from your 'find my' app? then try to activate or restore it.

Mar 23, 2016 1:01 PM in response to bretfromflandersby Suebelle1956,I am having the same issues. It tells you to try connecting your ipad to ITunes to activate it but when I do that, the ipad does not even show up on the page.
My husband was able to somehow activate his and it is working fine. I have been trying all day to activate with no luck.

Mar 23, 2016 1:06 PM in response to bretfromflandersby eva-jean,I know, awful situation. I think it is better to wait until Apple resolves the issue. Because I restored my iPad to factory settings. I am now restoring my iCloud backup and the apps are taking forever to install. Maybe Apple is trying to get us to buy new iPads.

Mar 23, 2016 1:46 PM in response to bretfromflandersby KungPowDaddy,Same issue here. Apple tech support told me that they are working on it, and it should be fixed soon, but I had the same thought as eva-jean at first. I guess it's time to hurry up and wait... or buy a new one. Which ever comes first.

Mar 23, 2016 2:00 PM in response to KungPowDaddyby lmfurm,I have exactly the same issue ("Could Not Activate iPhone. Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server cannot be reached...") on my iPhone 5 - no jailbreak EVER on it, was running the newest pre-IOS 9.3 software (9.2.1, I believe).
This is ludicrous. My phone is a brick now, and has been since this morning. Waiting to go home from work to see if I can clear this via my Wi-Fi connection, or, failing that, via iTunes on my desktop.
Mad beyond words, not only that this occurred - what kind of testing could this have gone through!? - but that my support call (and the many, many others) is taking so long to resolve.
I will NEVER EVER EVER again install an Apple update until at least the .1 or .2 version is available. I read two separate articles in tech pubs that assured me that this update was fine. More fool me.
Grr.

Mar 23, 2016 2:20 PM in response to lmfurmby Huntnphool,There seems to be a lot of "I have the same problem" but no solutions. What are we supposed to do now, just toss these POS's in the trash or is Apple actually going to read any of these and give us a solution?
I can't believe this company rolls out these "updates" without first testing it on all their previous devises, then when customers have issues and follow Apple's "If this problem persists, contact "Apple Support", only to find there actually isn't any "support", only a dead end.

Mar 23, 2016 3:20 PM in response to bretfromflandersby MichelPM,This is a known problem/glitch.
Apple has acknowledge the issue with activation server difficulties with certain iPad models and have stated that they are working on this issue and that it will be resolved as soon as possible.
