Q: gps not working properly after iOS 9.3 update

Hi all.

After updating to iOS 9.3 my GPS cannot find my exact location. It keeps telling me I am in a big area, (Triangulating) seems like it does not activate the GPS.

Sometimes very little it works and give me the correct position, but 97% of the time its not working. Anyone else with the same problem?

Besides that: A hot phone & bad WIFI

Did you already force restart the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again?

You will not lose data by resetting, but it can clear some glitches after installing new software or apps.

If this does not work, and to make sure that this is not software related, set it back to factory settings, without using a backup afterwards. Test your Wifi and GPS features.

In case it works again, restore from the backup, if it does not, the problem could be hardware related and the phone has to be checked by Apple or an Apple Authorized Service Provider.

I have the same issue here.

At first I didn't noticed it that gps is not working properly, but after I started using my navigation I got totally lost.

I'm kinda hoping that it is caused by ios9.3 update. 4 days before I replaced my battery and I am worried that I did something wrong.

If you replaced the battery yourself, this might have damaged some other parts of the hardware as well.

But you'll have to look for a 3rd party repair shop to get this checked, due to opening the phone yourself, Apple will not service it anymore.

It's the software issue. I have absolutely the same problem since December 2015 and iOS 9,2 update. There are many others with the same symptoms. Apple commented nothing so far, which is very unfortunate. To pay 900 $ for the phone which is partly useless after 15 months (with no warranty) is quite sick.

I have exactly the same issue with my iPhone 6. Kind of ***** especially since im traveling right now.

i was on the beta version of 9.3 before and im pretty sure that version didnt have this issue.

apple please fix this. Im loosing gps signal alot.

its easy to reproduce with google maps. Then sometimes you start all right and after a while it just looses your position, then sometimes it comes back again.

    very annoying

Even i am facing the same problem like other iPhone users, I have tried to do the force restart, factory default now even restored like new still the same. Wish i didn't upgrade to 9.3 .
I am facing problem in wifi as well.. When i check in my mac or other phone, I am able to find more than 9 SSID's but in iPhone just 2 or 3.

Please Apple fix this issue ASAP or else allow the user to downgrade in an official way.

Having similar problem with my iPhone 6 after having the screen replaced at the Genius Bar, starting with iOS 9.2.1

Wifi reception is terrible and often drops off completely when other devices are at full strength in the same location.

All maps apps (Apple, Google, Waze, whatever) have a lot of trouble pinning down my location. Sometimes the uncertainty bubble is 10+ miles wide. Using any maps for navigation while driving has become pretty useless. Compass heading was also off (not pointing north, but not correct either) only in mapping apps, but not in the Compass app, making me think this is some OS library problem. Calibrating the compass did nothing, because it was already calibrated and correct.

Did a full factory restore, which updated the os to 9.3.1.  Didn't fix the wifi problem.

I then restored from backup.  It seems the compass heading problem in mapping apps may have been fixed.  I will test navigation later today. Wifi problem definitely not fixed.

I hoped this got fixed in 9.3.1 and at first it looked liked it did.

But after a 10minutes drive i basicly had the same issue...

Strange thing is though, that whenever my navigation (apple maps or google maps) is of its course if i shake my iphone it seems to come back.

so i still hope its a software issue, but who knows...

Follow-up:  Neither the Wifi nor the GPS problems have been solved by going to 9.3.1.  My current best guess is that Apple damaged some internal hardware somehow when they replaced my screen.  Next stop is a trip to the Genius Bar.

I think it is software related because we are not alone with this issues.
