Q: Disable Creation of Finder Alias
Users need a way to completely disable the alias feature.
Occasionally and for no known reason, dragging and dropping files creates an alias instead of actually moving the file. There is no logic behind when this happens, as I only work with files locally on my machine and nothing is changed it just sometimes happens. The Apple Docs say aliases are only created when working with multiple disk drives, but my own experience is that is not true. I also don't mess with permissions, so perhaps it is some unknown setting I don't know about?
regardless I never use alias, I find it to be a worthless feature. But there is no way for me to disable it, or predict when a random alias will be created instead of the file itself moving.
The only band-aid solution is holding COMMAND when dragging files, which is just an annoyance because I only do that after regular drag and drop doesn't work. Please provide an option to disable ALIAS. Thank you!!
