Q: Can I get a refund of Apple service fee for recovering old iOS devices after installing iOS 9.3?

I had updated my iPad2 to iOS 9.3 on this Wednesday and could not activate my device so I went to some of Apple local shop in my area for fixing it. They had restore my device and charged me for some service fee. As there is a known issue for old iOS device after upgrading to iOS 9.3, I think it should be free of charge.

So the question is:

Can I get a refund of Apple service fee for recovering iPad2 after installing iOS 9.3?

I'm guessing the "Apple local shop" you went to was not an Apple-authorized shop, because they would not charge anything unless a hardware repair/replacement had to be performed. In that case, it is completely up to the shop at which you had it serviced.

    I'm gonna say, no.

Apple isn't responsible for what users end up doing with their iDevices whether the issue is hardware, software or difficulties on Apple's end.

You had other options besides bringing your iDevice into a service center, like perhaps waiting to upgrade/update or wait for a solution to present itself for the current iOS download issues.

Apple is not going to issue any type of refund or credit to you.

    Sorry.
