Q: I updated my ipad and Ive long since forgotten the AID and password I used now I cant activate it. ANyone any clues.

**** apple. Ive updated my ipad and to activate it, which ive never been asked before, I need the apple id and password that were used when I set it up. That was 8 years ago and ive long forgotten. So how the **** do I either switch the need to activate it off or find out what the AID and password was I used.

Apple seems to take great pride in screwing with us with updates. I hate updating anything apple, I hate it. It always leads to problems. Its never easy. ANy one got any brilliant ideas?

iPad 2, iOS 9.2.1

Are you still logged into the account anywhere so that you can look it up ? Do you have any of the account's downloads in your computer's iTunes library so that you can do 'get-info' on them and see the id ? Have you tried : If you forgot your Apple ID - Apple Support ?

If you still can't find or remember your id, and if you were the original purchaser of the iPad (i.e. it wasn’t bought used) then you could try going to an Apple Store (make a Genius Bar appointment if you do) or try contacting iTunes Support online (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/) and see if they can remove the iPad from the account - they are likely to want to see proof of ownership before they might help e.g. original receipt with the serial number on it

Thanks King Penguin. Apple support was the way to go. Had a charming young lady with a lot of patience sort it all out with me. Thanks.
