Q: paring wifi keyboard
I was using a wifi keyboard. At one point it kept giving me a hard time getting it pared even after using it for over a year.
Not sure as to the why. Upgrades?
Anyway I couldn't get it pared. Checked around and found out it was typical of some of the wifi keyboards.
So I purchased an Apple USB keyboard. Problem solved!
Well, maybe. Just this morning I kept getting popups on the screen wanting me to pare the wifi keyboard.
I dug up the keyboard. Entered the paring # and it wouldn't work. Ignored my entry.
Popup continues to popup!
I'll try a restart.

If you want to troubleshoot and stay with your wireless Keyboard.
see > If your Apple wireless mouse, keyboard, or trackpad aren't working as expected - Apple Support
To stay with the USB Keyboard and stop your Mac from searching for the wireless one.
1. go to: Apple > System Preferences > Bluetooth and remove the Keyboard from the Devices list.
2. go to: Apple > System Preferences > Bluetooth > select Advanced... uncheck "Open Bluetooth Setup Assistant at startup if no keyboard is detected"
