Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I have the same problem with mail, Safari, and messages. Links work with the gmail app. Links work in Chrome but only with a long click to get the option to open in a new tab. It appears this has happened before with 9.2.1 but I could not find an answer that fixed the problem. I do not think it started until 24 hours after the update. iPhone 6s+ 128gb 9.3.

Apple: please respond to this thread!  I have the exact same issue and it's very frustrating.  Safari is useless now.

At least in Chrome, I can long press and open a new window.  The same issue is happening with Apple's News as well.  It seems like hyerlinks are not working properly ever since the iOS 9.3 update.

Having exact same issue.  when I click a link in safari it highlights the link and then freezes.  Phone reset, cache clear does nothing.  HELP!!!

Also only able to use chrome by holding link and opening new tab to write this now!

I'm having the same issue in every app that has a link to open safari. I was in the beta and this never happened it was more stable then the public release.

Glad to know I'm not the only one having this problem. Definitely a problem with iOS 9.3 because it didn't start happening until after I updated my software this morning. I have an Apple iPhone 6S 128GB running iOS 9.3

Apple: please address and fix this ASAP as it is causing a lot of inconvenience!

It's sounding like this is an iPhone 6s bug since I haven't seen anyone else post about other devices having this issue. My iPad Air 2 works fine on iOS 9.3.

I have an iPhone 6 and it crashes in mail and restart while typing in mail! I cannot even see what I am typing since the 9.3 update. Safari has weird behaviours as well. Total waste of time this update. I didn't have any issues with 9.2.1. I think I will revert back to it!

iOS 9.3 appears to be buggy in general, but there does seem to be a specific issue with 6S (and perhaps 6S plus) with regards to not being able to click on hyperlinks in Safari, Mail, and other apps where the hyperlinks link to the Safari browser. Interestingly, some Google-related links on my Safari seem to work when clicked on. But all other regular websites don't. And, as other posters have noted, when using another browser such as Chrome, Firefox, Dolphin, etc, clicking on website hyperlinks doesn't seem to work either...but a "long click" and opening the link in a new tab works.

I hope this is fixed soon, but I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the 3D touch feature as that's one of the biggest differences between the 6S and other iOS devices.

Exact same problem, cant open any link using safari or chrome. Appears to be an issue with Javascript as safari works if I turn off javascript

By gosh, you're right. Thanks for the the tip.I disabled JavaScript for Safari and the hyperlinks do seem to work now.

The problem still persists with Mail, Notes, and other apps that contain links though.
