Mar 24, 2016 12:29 PM in response to ApteryxMACby my ginger,Try a pram reset. Command/Option/P/R/ keys and power button for three chimes. USB 3 has more power than a usb 2 port. You could also try a reinstall from recovery. In case the driver somehow didn't get installed.

Mar 24, 2016 1:01 PM in response to my gingerby ApteryxMAC,Sorry it didn't work. I tried but nothing has changed.
The same Super Drive works perfectly on iMac, so i think it's a problem with the McB Pro.
does to exist a valid diagnostic tool to find out what the problem is?

Mar 24, 2016 1:24 PM in response to ApteryxMACby my ginger,Have you ever had a problem with the two usb ports in using anything else plugged in? Such as an external hard drive. As that required good power also. This may help you find an answer. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204377

Mar 24, 2016 1:33 PM in response to my gingerby ApteryxMAC,Yes of course.
I have problem with everything plugged in the port. The USB keys works slower then expected and big drives doesn't load.
It looks like a problem in the power support of the port, but the reset has not worked at all.

Mar 24, 2016 1:45 PM in response to ApteryxMACby my ginger,Did you go to about this mac/systems/usb to see if the devise shows or the power output? https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201163 You might end up taking it into the genius bar. If you are not getting enough power from the ports to run peripherals \. And you have already run a pram and SMC reset, plus a reinstall. I can think of nothing else to advise you on.

Mar 24, 2016 2:04 PM in response to ApteryxMACby my ginger,If you are trying to run the drive thru a hub of any kind,it will most likely not work. You pic shows available 1000mAh and used 90mAh.

Mar 24, 2016 2:22 PM in response to my gingerby ApteryxMAC,when the snapshot was taken there were no devices pugged in, and of course no hub present.

Mar 25, 2016 2:34 AM in response to ApteryxMACby ApteryxMAC,★HelpfulFor the superdrive problem I tried this:
<<the problem is the lack of record "mbasd = 1" in the system. To solve this problem you need to open the "/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.Boot.plist." and edit "apple.Boot.plist" - Text Edit is sufficient.
The key "Kernel Flags" is empty. You must add between start and end string "mbasd = 1" and the problem is resolved.>>
The solution itself is not working for me, but during the procedure I noticed that the drive worked just fine when the csrutil was disabled...
Also the USB ports work fine now, in fact the problem is somehow linked to the SIP for me. For now I'm going to leave it disabled, waiting for a working solution.

Mar 25, 2016 8:31 AM in response to ApteryxMACby my ginger,That is an interesting work around. I would not have thought of that. I did notice in the screen shot that the high speed usb 3
was not even showing up. Does it now. In system preferences, usually that gets updated on every boot up. If you where to remove that preference from preferences and put it on the desktop. The next reboot would recreate it. If it caused it to go back the way it was,you would just delete it and move the open on the desktop back in. Usually when the usb ports will not work, doing a pram reset fixes that. Here is what I have. I run Snow Leopard, but it is close to the same. -
Mar 25, 2016 8:39 AM in response to my gingerby ApteryxMAC,The only problem is the SIP; under El Capitan you can't move, edit or delete this kind of preference file, until you start the computer in recovery mode and disable the SIP (via Terminal --> csrutil disable).
I think there should be an interference between the SIP and the superdrive in my MBP, But the same Superdrive under the same El Capitan but on iMac works fine... dunno.

Mar 25, 2016 2:01 PM in response to ApteryxMACby my ginger,You said earlier that your other drive also would not work. Did it work before you got the superdrive? Normally, if ether are connected and you go to (about this mac/ systems/ usb) they would show up as being connected. This would also be true in disk utilities. Does the high speed bus for usb even show in systems report? When doing an SMC reset I usually hold down the keys and power button for about 10 seconds. Will not hurt anything. The other thing is, what if you did a restart with the devices left plugged in. Even if you had no operating system installed, the usb bus keyboard and trackpad would still function. Because ,if you had an installer on a usb flash drive, you would be able to use these to access it.
