Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

I am calling Apple right now as you guys are right my iPad Pro has no issues with any type of links that I am having issues with with my iPhone 6s Plus. Messages, email and safari. I couldn't even get to this website without going to Chrome  having opening a new tab and I was able to get here.

    Same issues with additions:

All was well before upgrade to 9.3 on iPhone 6S.

6S freezes the app when clicking on hypertext links in (at least) Apple's Messaging app and in Safari from a Google search (mobile version) in Safari.

ADDITIONALLY, the GMail App and the Seeking Alpha apps freeze in the same way when clicking on a URL link.

In all 4 apps, I have to quit the app to unfreeze the app.  Simply restarting the 6S does not unfreeze the app.  Only quitting the frozen app will unfreeze it in all 4 apps mentioned.

Both my iPad Pro and iPad Mini have no such issues after upgrading to 9.3.

Good Luck to us all!  -DC

Okay I called them and did the typical procedures where I restored to new iPhone.  It was working for me after I started fresh. I then restored a backup and the issue happened again.  I am going to have to start from scratch.

I have oposite situation - my iPhone 6s works but my iPadAir has this issue.

Workaround is to disable javascript in safari settings.

I chatted with Apple Support last night and was told that they're aware of the problem and that their engineers are working on an update (presumably, iOS 9.3.1), and that the update should arrive within the next two days.  Fingers crossed.

I'm having the same issue (can't open links) with an iPhone 6 on iOS 9.3. Issue seems to affect most apps and most links; Outlook, Feedly, Flipboard, Safari (not all links). Frequently tapping a link will freeze the app or open a blank page. This is REALLY frustrating!

@APPLESUPPORT - support via Twitter...they told me to do this:

As your soft restart has not fixed your issue, we would like you to do a reset of your settings on your iPhone here… this will revert the settings back to factory defaults. Your content should remain in tact but you may want to back it up to iCloud or iTunes, just in case; this article will tell you how to do that -  apple.co/1QbHq1x

What the reset effectively does is to reset some of your Settings to factory default. It’s not a complete removal of settings. It removes all of your preferences for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Do No Disturb, Siri, Wallet, Location Services Alarms, Notifications, General, Sounds, Brightness & Wallpaper and Privacy… things like that. You'll just have to set those things back up after this reset.

First, switch off iCloud Drive, if enabled, under Settings > iCloud to protect any pending iCloud documents. Then go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. Again, your content will be secure… this just resets your settings.

**********IT DID NOT WORK************** Just removed all my settings...great!  Ughhhhhh...and I still have the issue

    Having the same exact issue.

What's strange is that I wasn't experiencing any similar issues on any of the betas.

Really dropped the ball on this one. I hope they put out a fix asap as this is really impacting the general UX

Same comment as you.  No issues with the Betas.  The UX with this issue is painful!!  Hopefully a fix with 9.3.1 will be out within the next few days.

It also happens on my Iphone 6 64GB . It's happening since this night when my Iphone updated to IOS 9.3.

I deleted Safari setting and browsing data, disabled suggetios, disabled javascrit, doesn't work.

I restarted settings for the Iphone, doesn't work either.

    Please apple, bug this asap.

Same thing.....6S 9.3 won't open links in Safari, email, or messages app. Hopefully 9.3.1 will be out soon and fix it.

    A co-worker has a 6S+ and his is fine
