Q: slow usb and superdrive failure

Hi to all,

I've a problem with my USB ports on my McBook Pro 15" Retina late 2013 - OS X 10.11.4

The transfer rate on the USB ports is as low as possible and (I think consequently) the super-drive fails to load disks. I tried to reset the power on the ports (SHIFT+CTRL+ALT+POWER) but I didn't noticed any change.

Before going to the applestore and leave it to the genius bar, is there any trick I can try?

Thank you

MacBook Pro with Retina display, OS X El Capitan (10.11.1)

Sorry maybe I wasn't clear. I have a McBook Pro 15" retina, with just the external USB superdrive. My problems are all about this configuration.

The same USB superdrive, connected to an iMac with the same El Capitan (that already have his internal CD unit) works just fine....

OK. But my question was wether the superdrive shows in disk utilities or systems report when plugged in. And it is true that the usb bus gets power wether there is an operating system or not. This is done though system management control The pram holds settings. Which also effects power to the usb ports. That is why when there is a problem with the usb ports it is recommended to reset both.
