Q: Model year of my Laptop Pro so I may buy larger memory cards (want to put in a total 16 ...now has only 4)
In order to buy larger memory boards for my Mac Book Pro I understand i need to know the machine's build date so I purchase the correct configuration to buy two 8 GB boards to replace the two 2 GB boards I currently have. Four GB is the minimum and it's no longer 'getting the job done'. I am seeking advice on ordering the correct boards .....Thnaks . . . .Neil

Do not buy DIMMs from amazon, or an electronics store.
Buy from a Vendor who knows Macs. Tell them your model "Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15", and they should tell YOU what DIMMs will fit and work in your Mac, or your money back.
