Mar 26, 2016 11:47 AM in response to robertfromottensheimby andres1712,Robert,
Until Apple has a solution I'm using CloudMagic as my main email client, Chrome and Mercury as my main browsers (in CM you can choose Chrome instead of Safari for the links) , Fantastical as my suplementary calendar and TunnelBear as my VPN connector.
This has been working >90% for close to a month so have made my iPad Mini 4 useable again until, sometime this year, Apple fixes iOS.
Cheers
Andres

Mar 26, 2016 1:38 PM in response to Mrs C Spainby able_ape,I too have the problem that links in Safari no longer work after iOS9.3 update. iPhone 6, 128GB
It's so good that people make suggestions like 'disable Javascript', but really this is not a solution. Half of the sites you visit will probably not work properly. And no, the old faithful 'Reboot your phone' also doesn't work, so pls stop suggesting it - or find a job in Windows Support.
Suggestions like 'Use Chrome/Firefox' are also just a distraction - they are using the same underlying browser/webkit. So although (for example) Chrome will allow you to more easily open links in a new tab, this also isn't a solution. Clicking on links after searching simply will not work.
And of course then we get the 'Restore/Reinstall' iOS9.3. Really? This is rather akin to replacing the engine in your car every time you run out of gas. And worse still: It won't solve anything. In various forums this has been confirmed (usually at the cost of spending a couple of hours at a Genius Bar). This appears to a be a new bug, introduced by Apple engineers. It is almost incomprehensible that the engineering team didn't spot it as part of their QA, as similar issues were reported with various beta releases.
I hope that instead of enjoying a great Easter break, they are slaving away on iOS 9.3.1. With fixes. Producing poorly controlled iOS releases (thank heavens I have not yet tried to update any of my 'older' iOS devices) damages the reputation of Apple, and turns fairly expensive digital devices into shiny coasters. If - like me - you use your iPhone / iPad extensively as browser - it needs fixing, and fast.
No: my post doesn't provide a solution. Only one organization can do that: The Apple engineering team. Get to it.

Mar 26, 2016 2:04 PM in response to Mrs C Spainby Wingman Pete,HI, try SETTINGS-SAFARI-ADVANCED and turn off Java.
This sorted Safari issues but not url links from within Email.
II suspect that this isn't a fix but a workaround. It may help to indicate to someone however, where the problem lies.
Good Luck
pete...

Mar 26, 2016 2:41 PM in response to Mrs C Spainby antiphellus, iphone 6s 128gb started to have the same problem. Upgraded to ios 9.3 still the same. Like many did I tried all the sensible things to overcome the problem. Nothing worked so far.
It doesn't make sense to go back to factory settings and then restore, seeing the number of people having the same problem, it is obviously an issue Apple should address the problem.
-
Mar 26, 2016 2:46 PM in response to antiphellusby Sident,DDon't do it. Going back to factory reset doesn't work either. Ive just done mine because I never had a lot on it. It doesn't work.

Mar 26, 2016 3:02 PM in response to Mrs C Spainby reifer,I'm having the same issue. Updated iOS to 9.3 but that didn't help
i I use Mercury too but same issue
my iPhone still works. My wife's iPad Air 2 still works too but neither one has been updated.
I'm going to get a genius appt. tomorrow but not very confident
i I can't even get to the community forums on my iPad. Can't click on Genius Bar either
and virtually no links from a search will open
this is BS Apple!

Mar 26, 2016 3:33 PM in response to reiferby OpenWater62,Same friggin problem on all connected Apple devices. I am going to see if the Geniuses can shed some light on the issue.
-
Mar 26, 2016 3:44 PM in response to OpenWater62by chris from Stotfold,We're wall to wall Apple ... iPhone6, iPhone6s, iPad, and iMac. The only device where Safari freezes is the iPad. However, if we try and connect to the internet using the iPad, it locks up the hub and nothing else works. I've tried all the suggestions and some provide a very temporary fix but the problem comes back quickly.
It is shameful that there are now 13 pages of complaints on this topic and NO response from Apple. I am seriously considering a radical solution ... going to buy a Microsoft Surface!

Mar 26, 2016 4:38 PM in response to Mrs C Spainby Gilean_Void,Yesterday downloaded 9.2.1 ipsw and reset my iPad as new With this firmware. It was signed by Apple yesterday, so it is not a jailbreak. Installed minimum apps. For now everything works fine. It seems that this solves problem not for everyone.
-
Mar 26, 2016 4:43 PM in response to Gilean_Voidby glozanomoran,What I did:
- Created a backup of the iPhone 6 using the latest version ofiTunes.
- Restored the iPhone using the ipsw for iOS 9.2.1.
- Setup the iPhone as a new phone.
- Tried to open links and verified that it works.
- Upgraded the iPhone from iOS 9.2.1 to iOS 9.3.
- After the upgrade, setup the iPhone as a new phone
- Tried to open links and verified that it works.
- Restored the latest backup, that I created in the first step, using iTunes.
- Tried to open links and again the exact same issue as before so this did not work.
I was kind of hoping that it was related to the upgrade to iOS 9.3 that went wrong or something by giving it a new I thought I could resolve it. So whatever the problem is it seems to be software related because as I mentioned after restoring a backup I had the same problem again.
This also means that if you are okay with setting up your phone as a new phone I would say go for it!
