First of all, you should know what Boot Camp is, and there are some articles for you -> How to install Windows using Boot Camp - Apple Support

Boot Camp lets you install Windows on your Mac and run it as you would on any other PC. To make Windows work, you will be installing it on a second partition alongside OS X, so you can start up your Mac from the operating system you want to. This is the option you should use if you need the best performance in Windows.

Obviously, you do not need it if you do not need Windows, but apart from that, it is completely safe to install Windows with Boot Camp. Anyway, you have to be very careful during the Windows installation, and you should be aware of viruses. One of the first tasks you should perform is to install an antivirus in Windows after completing the installation.

You have all the documentation you need about Boot Camp in the Apple Support site -> http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp. However, note that you can also run Windows on a virtual machine, which should be enough for most people, and it is less risky. If you do not know if you should use Boot Camp or a virtual machine, read this user tip -> Windows in BootCamp or Virtual Machine?
