Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

SEriously Apple, the only way to get attention to a case unless you are an Apple Care customer is via Twitter?  Not everybody in the world uses Twitter.  How about you open a query here in Communities and we can all give you our spcifics...

THose, who suspect it has to do with Booking.com...have you tried simply uninstalling the Booking.com app?  By the way that may have just been a coincidence since some people said that their phones worked fine for 2 days after the upgrade and the problem appeared yesterday out of the blue.

Wrong, my iPad Air 2 is having the exact same Email and Safari unresponsive links and freezing issues.  Fortunately my iPhone 5 would not install the update so it works, but I hate googlimg, etc. on the small screen.  For the record, I have booking.com app on my iPad.  This *****.

Seems like un-installing Booking.com doest fix the problem either *unfortunatly

A simple written acknowledgment from Apple advising their status (awareness of issue and they are busy working on a fix) would be most helpful.

Maybe they should also put a hold on iOS 9.3 until they know exactly what is causing the problem. I know others have experienced the problem prior to upgrade to iOS 9.3 (some waiting since Jan 16 !!) but until they are 110% confident that iOS 9.3 is not the cause then better to have happy customers than others looking to switch to a new manufacturer at the time of their next upgrade.

No uninstallling it, doesn't. Once installed you re gone. You need to reset the phone as new again.  There may be other apps responsible, but from my installed apps, booking seems to crash safari. Booking app on the ipad seems fine though.

9.2.1 is also affected. I've gone back to 9.2.1 from 9.3 and after a while the poblem reappeared. Now back to 9.3. Without booking installed safari works ok so far.

    Hi,

I deleted Booking and Wikipedia appls.

I backuped on I Cloud, reset the stiff, restored.....

    Unfortunately NO PROGRESS.

It looks there are other applications that are installed on my iPhone 6 64 Gb that cause the issue.

Maybe you need to setup iphone as new, rather than restoring from backup. Anyway there may be other apps responsible for the crash.

When you login into icloud you usually get back most of your settings (safari, contacts etc). Restore option puts back some apps i believe.

    HI Anitteb

I only suggested the time change as that is the only thing that has changed on my phone since the problem started. My phone was still working as it should when I last used it at 1 a.m. this morning, all links in mail and safari were functioning correctly. I don't have the Booking.com app installed, so where others are suggesting that is what is causing the problem, it isn't the culprit in my case. My phone was reset to factory and a fresh install - no backups used - the day before upgrading to iOS 9.3. so I can personally rule that theory out. I think the only thing we can do is wait for Apple to release a fix as none of us really know for sure what has caused it.
