Q: techbrowsing malware on Macbook Pro

Hi,

I have Mavericks on our 2012 MacBook Pro.  Recently, the Techbrowsing website appeared in my Safari browser.  I wasn't aware that it was malware

until I googled it today.  While there are websites that claim to help remove it, I place more trust in the Apple community.  Has anyone here dealt with

this malware successfully?

Thanks for any help.

Malwarebytes for mac works without having to resort to posting log files and anciently deleting something that didn't need to be removed.

it's free it's easy to use, it does what it says (get rid of malware, not prevents) and the company has years of respect from the Windows IT community.

It is NOT mac Anti Virus and does not in any way similar to a resident application that watches interactions of your OS.

it has also gained a tremendous amount of popularity on the forums by users who have tried it and found it works and does not cause problems indicative of Mac Anti Virus packages, which should not be used and this product should not be lumped in with.

If the pop-up reloads, force quit Safari (command - option/alt - esc) and reopen with the shift key held down. If that doesn't work, disconnect from the Internet, go to Safari/History and delete the website. Quit and reopen with the shift key held down.

Thank you, Eric.  I tried it, but couldn't delete that website.  I think it's a sponsor of my VPN Hotspot Shield.

I may have found a solution.  In browsing Safari Extensions from the menu, I saw Ad Block.  I installed it after making a donation and I haven't seen the Techbrowsing tab since.  Wanted to thank you for you suggestion even though I couldn't make it work.

P.S.  After restarting our MacBook Pro, the Techbrowsing website tab was back.  I signed into my Hotspot Shield VPN and closed the Techbrowsing tab.
