Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

Having the same problem with my iPhone 6.  The JavaScript workaround didn't help.  I'm using the Bing app for web browsing.  Email links are useless.  Hope they fix this soon.

    My ipad 2 works fine.

Ok guys, how is possible that all of us aren't able yet to determine why the problem is so randomized? With all our devices and knowledge we haven't been able to know what is it related on.

As Gregory Combs said ''UIWebView, WKWebView and presumably SFSafariViewController'' are the processes with problems, but we still don't know why it happens just on some devices and not all of them.

On my last check i tried to see if it was related to DNS resolving (since I use google's dns) but ofc it is not.

I personally find this thread hilarious.

Even though this post is sizable, it still represents a very small amount of iphones. (Over 100 million active iphones)

I know you think the world revolves around you, but it doesn't.

There are millions that have upgraded to 9.3 with zero issues.

Also when trying to figure out what is causing an issue, you have to isolate the cause to a hardware issue or software or sometimes environmental.

Clearly this is a software issue.

There is no hardware that can be replaced to fix this issue. (There is no "loading safari" component)

A restore and setup as new is a very viable and useful troubleshooting step.

Like it or not software issues are affected by use.  Not saying the phone was abused but data was added that was not there when the box was opened.

If the issue persists after a restore and set up as new then it is likely a server issue (For safari suggestions for example) or an IOS issue.

Neither of those can be fixed instantly.

    So be patient.

And try the restore and setup as new.

Well, the thread just illustrates that the issue is widespread. We know that only heavy publicity can attract the corporation's attention (otherwise you'd be stuck with the issue for months!). So, whoever experiences the issue should post here asap and share more information.

I really hope that Apple's engineers are browsing these pages. People here do half of the Apple's preventive and reactive job!

Did you post from your iPhone?  You're so lucky because all of us can't.

I did.  Has nothing to do with luck.

This issue is not as widespread as you think it is.

Actually Brian, for myself personally I AM the centre of the Universe, as you are the centre from your perspective. Constructive advice/ support without derision is useful, anything else is quite unnecessary and not really useful. But Thanks.

    I wasn't being derisive.

I gave you the only solution you would need.
