Mar 27, 2016 11:16 PM in response to fromroscoeilby Rysz,iTunes does not store or import your photos. It's only used for selecting which images you want to sync to the iPhone.
To import your photos, launch whatever application you normally use to manage your images, select the iPhone, then Import All.
If you're on a Mac, that software would be iPhoto or Photos, depending on which version of OS X you have.

Mar 28, 2016 12:11 AM in response to fromroscoeilby léonie,Are the photos you want to download from your iPhone in the camera roll, or have the photos been synced to iPhone using iTunes?
If you are trying to backup the iPhone to iTunes, your photos in the camera roll will be included in the iTunes backup, but are not shown.
Any photos you are having stored in iCloud (My Photo Stream, Shared Albums, iCloud Photo Library) will also not be included in an iTunes backup of your iPhone. And you cannot download the iCloud photos using a USB connection. Use the network for this.
