Q: How to transfer the EDITED versions of photos and folders, iPad to iMac, using Photos?
OK, I give up. I spent several hours on the plane with Photos editing about 700 photos on my iPad (2nd gen, 8.2), organizing into folders, thinking they would be magically synced to iCloud, thence to my 5K iMac (10.10.5) and other devices (macbook pro, 10.10.3). I have tried setting up shared folders, but Photos seems to want to transfer them only one at a time to a shared folder (chokes in the "preparing photos" phase and I've given it all night). I realize I am not using the latest iOS, but given how slow the iPad became after moving irreversibly from v. 7 to v. 8, I am loath to try another upgrade.
I have seen others post similar questions, but have not seen any satisfactory answers. Would anyone care to share any insights?
Thanks in advance.
MacBook Pro (13-inch Late 2011), OS X Yosemite (10.10.3)

You do need IOS 8.3 -- System requirements for iCloud - Apple Support and If you are using iCloud Photo library then it is totally automatic - it may be slow but is automatic and will happen - keep the iPad on the internet and plugged in
However it would be a really good idea to get up to date with IOS 9
