Q: URLs not working in Safari or Mail after iOS 9.2.1

After updating my iPad Air 2 iOS 9.2.1, I experienced Safari crashing when trying to open a new tab. I solved this problem by disabling Search Engine Suggestions and Safari Suggestions in Settings, as recommended. However now, if I've done a search, I cannot open any of the links in that search. If I type a specific URL in the Search Box, then I can open the page, but am unable to sign in, use any links from that page, etc. Also, I find that I am unable to open any URL links that I receive in Mail and tapping on a link then locks up Mail... I have done a full sync to my iMac, which can sometimes rectify a problem, but it hasn't helped in this instance.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Probably the best ideea is to wait for Apple fix for this problem.

In my case is even stranger, until today my Ipad Air iOS version 9.2.1 and Iphone 5S iOS version 9.2.1 were working perfectly.

Today my Ipad is not working anymore, Safari, Mail, Chrome, all have problems with internet links. But the Iphone 5S is still working ok.

And is strange because I didn't made any changes to both of them in the last week. Not even any upgrades.

So I don't know what the problem is but it doesn't have a clear pattern. In any case Apple should solve this as soon as possible.

Same thing happened to my ipad mini 2 just a few days ago.  It's running v9.2.1.  I don't remember when it was upgraded to this version.

I tried "reset" and spent lots of time re-setting things up, still doesn't open URLs from email.

I was on the phone with Apple support for quite a while yesterday and tried everything.  After trying everything else, the support member asked me to restore  my 6s Plus.  It took a few hours and the links are still not working.  On hold with Apple support again now.  I just read an interesting article stating that phones that downloaded the Booking.com app did experience crashes.  Interestingly enough, I did have that app on my iPhone before the restoration.

it might not be a coincidence as I have an iPad2 and a iPhone6 both running the latest iOS

the last thing my iPad did last night was to update booking.com app, and the iPad has all the problems described in this post as of this morning.

I do not have the Booking.com app installed on my iPhone, and this device is working fine.

I have uninstalled the app, did a hard reset (keeping data) but alas to no effect.

Same with me.  Safar links stopped working yesterday, on Easter.  I didn't change anything on my iPad and have not uodated iOS in a long time.  Just out of the blue.  Have been using Chrome, but even with chrome, links don't work by just clicking on them.  I have to hold button down and choose from menu to open in new tab, and then it opens.  Something is affecting all search engines.  Very annoying!  I have so many things to look up right now!  Ugh.

Running Ipad 2 with iOS 9.2 with Booking.com and my links do not work with Bing or Google search engine. Also, with a long tap the page freezes. It seems strange that a lot of people developed this glitch at approximately the same time (a couple days ago) ?  Kind of looks like Apple is in no rush to find the cause !

You can have two temporary solutions:

1- disable Java in safari by going to SETTINGS, SAFARI, Advanced, then switch off Java.

2- use a different browser like dolphin

I'm also experiencing this issue since yesterday on an iPhone 6 with iOS 9.2.1

Disabling javascript has not worked for me.

Using Chrome and long press to open on new tap uses to work. But not always...

Apple, solve this issue ASAP. It is unacceptable!!

I am currently trying to use Decipher Phone Refresh to custom build a restore file to see if I can restore with just enough data minus the corrupted Shared Web Credentials.

I had none of these problems until a couple of days after I upgraded from IOS 9.2.1 to 9.3 last week on my iPhone 6S, 64 GB.  Links in most browsers, mail & many apps don't work & also freeze up most of them.  I cleared the website data & history in Safari browser, which did nothing.  Then I disabled JavaScript in Safari & links worked in Safari browser for about 1/2 day, but then stopped working again.  It was no help what-so-ever with using links in mail.  The mail app just freezes whenever I tap on a link.

Another browser I tried, Sleipner, works like a charm.  If the link is on the same website, tapping the link brings you right to that page.  If the link is to another website, just press & hold the link & it opens another page alongside others at the bottom of the screen, then just tap on that page or any other one that you want to open.  Sleipner opens websites pretty fast too, which is nice.

As far as mail, that app is useless now.  So far I've had success opening links from mail accessed through Gmail app.  Thanks to those who also suggested using the Outlook app.

All that said, this problem is obviously a nightmare for many iPhone, iPad users, and for what Apple charges for their 'superior' products, it's totally unacceptable for these assinine problems to even be happening in the first place, nevermind how they are dragging their butts to fix these issues that basically render their devises useless.
