Q: iOS 9.3 - Safari/Mail freezes after clicking links on iPhone 6S

Hi,

Never had any problems with my iPhone 6S. Just upgraded to iOS 9.3 without any issues. After the upgrade, I can't click links when searching something on Google in Safari or clicking a link in the Mail, the apps just freeze.

I tried clearing Safari history data/cache, closing all apps and restarting the phone (both regular and holding both home/power key), disabling all sorts of settings form Safari settings, but no luck.. Anyone with an idea how to sort it out?

Hmm, I don't see how it could be server problem. i restored my phone back to factory 9.3 and links worked just fine in Mail and Safari. It failed as soon as I restored it to a backup from iTunes on my Macbook Pro.

The first level reps you get when you call apple care know nothing. From what I can tell they are overseas and are following a script. L2 reps are in North America and know way more.

Most solutions I get from the robots at the first level is reboot your device and if that doesnt work restore.

I have the same problem, iPhone 6 Plus here...

Clicking links in Safari does nothing, tap&hold freezes Safari, clicking links in other apps just freezes that app (looks like Safari is not willing to open any new link).

An utter disgrace.  My iPad Air 2 and iPhone 6 are both two months old and came with 9.2.1.

I updated yesterday to 9.3 and, as widely reported, none of the links on any searches or in e-mails now work and when I do click them, Safari locks up and I have to exit the application.

This would be bad enough with any company but when it's a company the size of Apple that made an $18bn Q1,profit in 2015, it's both shameful and inept.

Whatever happened to thorough beta testing? It's patently obvious Apple knew of this problem prior to launch so why was the launch still made?

Why are the end-users (the customers) the Guinea pigs?  This has a tragic air to it of a company that rather than spend a minuscule proportion of its revenue in testing before launch is using customer feedback as its basis for what goes into 9.3.1 and no thought for *******-off millions of customers in the process.

It's accepted that some glitches will occur with a software upgrade which can subsequently be patched but the magnitude of this problem is what beggars belief.  As per usual with Crapple, the facility to roll back to 9.2.1 has been removed.

I phoned customer services last night and vented my spleen without the use of direct insults or swear words and was advised that a solution (presumably 9.3.1) is a couple of days away.

Steve Jobs must be turning in his grave.

Same problem, but the workaround is to change your email to something else...I am using cloud magic, and the links now All work. With the browser I just installed the Google app. And everything works with that application. The only way Apple is going to get this fixed is when the markets realize this is causing a HUGE problem. Up until then they are in denial. If the stock markets start selling ..this will be fixed quickly.

Both my iPhone 6s Plus, and iPad Pro 12.9 have the issue.

Links don't work, and Safari freezes when long pressed.

Agreed sqig.  It's when it really starts hitting them in terms of PR and/or the share price that the wick will be turned-up to resolve the issue.  I'm not really interested in all this workaround crap as it shouldn't have come to a bunch of dissatisfied customers trying to resolve on a forum, the ineptitude of a multi-billion dollar company.

It's the last day of my four day Easter weekend and I've really got better things to do than deal with this bollocks.

Thanks and let's hope that 9.3.1 comes today rather than next week.

how to fix broken ios 9.3 safari/mail links bug:

    1) find and uninstall booking.com application, if you have it

    2) wait at least 1 hour, bug is gone. maybe you need to reboot once
