Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities!
I understand that your iPhone is missing and I’m very sorry to hear that. It sounds like you are trying to locate the iPhone using Find My iPhone, but the Find My iPhone service wasn’t yet set up on the iPhone before it went missing.
Find My iPhone has to be set up on the device prior to it being misplaced in order to use the service. You would not be able to add it after the fact.

I tried to track it down with my ipad but I could only go so far without losing my wireless connection to my router. I haven't turned off my service because I call it every few hours and hope they will turn it back on. I'm on the apple website and read where they don't do anything to help locate lost or stolen iphones. Find iphone works if the iphone is turned on. Many people give up and get another phone. I don't want a replacement, I want MY phone back.
